This is Tammy Berkman, guest writer for the Go Near Ministry Blog.

I am writing today to thank the 28 members of the 2017 Go Near Ministry Kenya Team for doing such an incredible job teaching the whole storyline of the Bible.  The curriculum, “Learn the Whole Bible A.S.A.P.” was taught to 300 students at Star of Hope School in Mathare Slum in Nairobi, and 200 students in the Masaai School in Namelok.

The teaching took ten hours total at each school, and to accomplish this goal, a team of three GNM college and/or high school volunteers taught in each classroom.  Each student completed  their own workbook and received a brand new Bible, in which they labeled each of the  66 books with post it flags. Students received a Certificate of Achievement upon completion of the course.  All classes were successful because of the diligence and dedication of each team member.

This was my first experience with Go Near Ministry.  Since 2005, Melody has been laying the foundation and building up the ministry of Go Near in Kenya.   I watched as  Melody touched base with her many connections there.  She has established deep roots and long term relationships with many of the people who are helping  orphans and street children in Kenya.  Her influence goes further than the services she provides with her mission trips.  She is also busy working behind the scenes to improve the quality of care in the institutions that care for orphans and provide water wells and other services that are so needed by the schools that serve children in Africa.   Melody is truly a force for good in Kenya, and she has earned a reputation and  legacy of being known, loved and appreciated by many.
