True friends are a gift from our generous God. He is a loving father who knows what we need in the trials and triumphs in our life. In my life, God has gifted me with a true treasure in my friendship with Cheryl Williams. She “appeared in my life” by contacting me when I lived in Africa. For years, I heard about her because of her care for babies in our community before they were placed in forever homes. She contacted me when we were living in Kenya after seeing my blog posts and asked to come help out at the Nest Children’s Home. Well, she made it to Africa and has been coming ever since. She has been my strongest support over the years. She is bold to advocate for the abandoned children and women in the communities where we serve. She took the helm of leading Go Near Ministry serving as chairman for many years helping lead teams of youth and adults when others wouldn’t take the risk. She has answered God’s call of true “servant-leadership” for the Kingdom with joy and wisdom. She quietly supports programming for special needs children in the slums of Kenya and provides for others to have an education and better themselves. Cheryl, so many are impacted today because you believed. You prayed. You stood firm when the enemy wanted to stop others from “Going Near.”
So on this birthday, Go Near Ministry shouts a big “THANK YOU” for your life and service to so many. Thank you Cheryl for your treasured special friendship and support.
With love,
Melody
