Please pray for peace in Kenya as the election results are being tallied. Vote counting has begun in a tight election to pick the next president and the new parliament members.  The winner is expected to be announced within 48 hours. The electoral body has seven days to declare a winner.  The election pitted President Uhuru Kenyatta, who is seeking a final five-year term in office, and 72-year-old long-term rival and veteran opposition leader Raila Odinga. More than 19 million Kenyans were eligible to vote with 51 percent of those under the age of 31 years.

Many have been praying in the months and days prior to the election as Kenya experienced extreme violence in 2007 after the opposition, led by Odinga, claimed the election results were rigged in favour of then incumbent Mwai Kibaki. Our family (Melody) was there during that time to witness the aftermath that occurred in the lives of innocent people. We ask you to join us and our friends in Kenya to pray for a peaceful transition.

Thank you,
