Go Near and let your light shine!
Go Near and let your light shine!!! God is clear in his word to go out into the world and go near to others to tell about Him. Jesus is our example. He came down from heaven to dwell among men. He welcomed the children into his arms to bless them. He wants us to go near and share about Him with children everywhere with enthusiastic love and excitement. Enjoy these photos of sharing the gospel through puppets and songs with children in Kenya. I challenge you to enter into the joy of this
Short-term missions have long-term impact
David Platt presents the value of short-term missions in his blog copied below. Great read. There are so many abuses when it comes to short-term mission trips, and oftentimes these abuses obscure the tremendous value of short-term missions. The goal of short-term mission is always long-term impact…on a variety of different levels. Long-Term Impact Abroad First, we want to be a part of long-term impact in other contexts in the world. Obviously, we are not going to be able to go into

New Website Launch
These are exciting days for us as Go near launches our new website to better communicate our vision and invite you to be a part. We are driven by the call of God in James 1:27, “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this to look after orphans and widows in their distress.” Our vision is to see communities transformed by mobilizing people and resources to bring God’s hope to orphans, widows, prisoners and the poor. More succinctly, our mission is Mobilization. Empowerment.
The Library Project
Why do you think I have sent you here? This is the phrase that God clearly said to me one night while I was in Loituktuk, Kenya in July 2014. This was my third trip to Kenya, and unlike the others, while I knew I was there for a purpose, God had not yet revealed that purpose. Getting to Kenya for the third time, raising funds for another trip was extremely difficult. So difficult, that I almost gave up, but of course, in that moment of lacking faith, the Lord provided. So, again I found myself
International Widow’s Day
After the kids and I had decided to come to Kenya, we found out that June 23, is International Widow’s Day. We decided we needed to do something special for them. We had so much fun imagining how surprised the women would be when they were told they would get to fill their bags (donated by Kathy Hudson) with the produce!
There Are No Words
There are no words to begin to describe our experience on Sunday at a Maximum Security Prison but I will try to convey what I can. Unlike the prison we had visited the day before, security here was tight. Once all documents were inspected and permission granted for us to proceed, we made our way through one locked steel door after another until we arrived on the inside. The first thing that hit me was the smell. It was a strong mixture of dirt, sweat, body odor and sewage. As we continued
