Women’s trip to Kenya- Jan.27th – Feb. 5th, 2013
I am amazed at all my women’s team experienced during our recent visit to Kenya. My team of ladies went hard from the moment they arrived in Nairobi. I wanted them to experience a portion of the multitude of opportunities to serve the poor. We packed our days full as we delivered supplies, taught lessons and songs to children, visited prisoners, and encouraged widows and women who live in the slums. God sustained us. He strengthened us. He gave us what we needed to be able to pour our lives out. We gained so much from time with those whose lives are so different than ours. We saw God provide for the needs of the poor. We experienced vibrant, real worship. We saw faith and love in the lives of those we met that challenges us to want more of what they have. –Melody Taylor

“Words can’t express the beauty, hope, and excitement of Kenyans. They have joy despite their circumstance and hope in an uncertain future. What a privilege to have seen these people first hand. I encourage any who are seeking to serve a mighty God, to consider partnering with Go Near. You will not be disappointed watching God transform you and the sweet children of Kenya!” -Amy Daniel, 2012 mission trip

Mission trip to Kenya with Little Rock Christian Academy High School students was a success

Little Rock Christian Academy students travel to Kenya for J-term internship
God poured out His blessings over our trip in abundance. Our team of LRCA students worked extremely hard with hearts eager to serve. We cared for abandoned children, served in schools in the slums, delivered school supplies, visited the elderly, brought light into the slum dwellings, ran with the animals at Crescent Island and finished with kissing giraffes.

“This trip not only changed my life but changed the lives of many living in Nairobi, Kenya. I am truly grateful I had this opportunity to serve. Our team went to many incredible places and met some amazing people. We were able to play with and teach the children at Uzimatele School and help with construction of the new school room. We installed lighting in the form of 2 liter water battles filled with water, equalling a 50 watt bulb. This trip meant so much to me and I will be returning back to serve in Kenya in summer 2012.”

I can’t tell you how much of a blessing it was for me to see Africa through your eyes! It was truly an experience I will remember for a lifetime. I know it must not have been easy carting us around, but I was so glad you did. You all were so fun and easy to be around–Thank you for everything.

“Thank you for taking me on this trip. It was such a blessing! I was really nervous, but you made me feel so comfortable and welcomed me into the group. This trip definitely challenged me. I am so grateful for the times you stopped and helped me talk through whatever emotions I was experiencing. Africa has been on my heart and I know that God placed you in my life to be there with me when I first experienced it! Your determination to help the people of Kenya inspires me and it makes me want to spend my life helping others, like you have done.”

“Going to Africa was an incredible experience. Taking part in mission work hands on was something I’ll never forget. I became more aware of how God is truly present in every situation. One of my favorite moments was handing out backpacks to the kids at Uzimatele. Watching their faces light up as they received a gift that seems so trivial to us was sublime. Thank you for opening your ministry to us and showing what service looks like. I am returning back to Little Rock to continue being used by God to help the poor in Kenya.”

The joy in the hearts of these kids inspired me to desire a more thankful heart towards my heavenly Father. Playing with these kids has given me an understanding of how God feels about me as His child! I will absolutely be back in the future to partner with the Lord in showing these kids His love!
